Sum Insured

The cover for your Vehicle under HDFC ERGO Car Insurance would also depend on the selling price as listed by the manufacturer, less depreciation, for each year or the IDV (Insured’s declared Value). This IDV will be the maximum payable amount in the event of claim filed against Total Loss or Theft under aforementioned motor insurance.



The package HDFC ERGO Car insurance policy premium would depend on:

  • Age of the vehicle

  • Type of vehicle

  • Sum Insured/Insured’s Declared Value (IDV)

  • Place of Registration

  • Fuel type (whether Petrol, Diesel, LPG or CNG)



  • Damage done by the person without a valid DL (driving license)

  • Damage done by the person who was driving under the influence of Alcohol/Liquor/Drugs

  • General Ageing, wear & tear

  • Mechanical/Electrical breakdown or failure

  • Loss /Damage incurred due to War/Mutiny/Nuclear risks
